The best of both worlds. A lucrative career and lots of time off. To play and enjoy the fruits of your labor. While still finding meeting, enjoyment, and a fat paycheck at work. At this stage of the game, you’ve probably realize that while the stated purpose of businesses to make money, the unstated purpose can be to help others while collaborating with those whom you respect. I can be a pretty sweet gig if you’re good at it and love what you do.
Think Differently.
Retirement does not have to be a one time achievable event. It can be a process, stretched out over a decade or more. This is a wonderful thing. It’s certainly better than a typical decision to work until 65, stop abruptly, and devolved into gluttony and hedonism. We’ve all seen people do this. None of them are happy. Imagine if instead of stopping at 65, you begin to reduce your workload 10 years earlier? Or 20? To begin to cut back to part-time hours, to delegate the things you lows in favor of the things you love? What if instead of stopping at 65, you worked part time from age 55 to age 70? What if during that entire period, you only did the things you loved? That hardly seems like work to me. Imagine what you could do with all that free time. How could you enj your family, your friends, your hobbies, your health, your sanity? What amazing freedom! But how do you get here?
