The foreign / emerging markets are sharply down over the last couple of days and are dragging the global markets down.
However, we don’t own any foreign / emerging market investments, and haven’t for almost five years. So, the current downturn doesn’t have any direct impact on you. Just thought you’d like to know.
So far, the S&P is down over 3.0% in the last two days. On the other hand, our collective portfolios are only down by 1.1%. Mission accomplished. There’s a reason we don’t own the foreign / emerging markets asset class.
Enjoy your weekend.
P.S. Geekery Afoot: Looking at the following chart, which two of the three investments (shaded area and two lines) would you prefer to own? Be happy. You own the shaded area and the red line as a stability hedge. The green line is the foreign / emerging markets. Enough said. (Source: Yahoo Finance.)
